HOUSTON - Rice junior Cali Roper will be competing at her second straight NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Championship, which will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. (CT) at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
A native of Willis, Texas, Roper qualified for the NCAA's by being one of the four finishers not associated with either of the top two qualifying teams at regionals. Roper became the first Owl to qualify for the NCAA Championships individually in consecutive seasons since Pam Klassen (1985-86).
Last year Roper placed 47th out of 252 runners, just missing out on All-American honors (Top 40). Earlier this year Roper won her second straight C-USA individual title, leading the Owls to their third C-USA title in school history.
