Jensen, Roper Selected to C-USA All-Academic Team

IRVING, Texas - For a second straight year, Rice juniors Katie Jensen and Cali Roper were each named to the 2015 Conference USA Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team, the league office announced Friday morning.
A native of The Woodlands, Jensen has a 3.78 GPA while majoring in Chemical Engineering. Jensen is coming off a second place finish (5k-17:35.5) at the C-USA Championships, earning C-USA First-Team honors while helping lead the Owls to their fourth C-USA title in school history. This is Jensen's third career C-USA all-academic, having been selected once before in both cross country and track & field. She is also a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree.
Roper, from Willis, Texas, won her second straight C-USA individual title all while sporting a 3.75 GPA in Sports Management. A two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree, Roper has been named to the C-USA Academic Honor Roll three times in her career. She has led the Owls in all five races this season and was named the C-USA Female Athlete of the Week on Oct. 20.
The women's honorary list was selected by the league's sports information directors. The all-academic team consists of six student-athletes that have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a key member on their team.
Jensen and Roper are both competing this morning at the NCAA South Central Regional in College Station.
