Halm Named C-USA Athlete of the Week

IRVING, Texas - Rice redshirt sophomore Abby Halm was named the Conference USA Cross Country Female Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Halm, from Alexandria, Va., led a small contingent of Rice runners at this past weekend's HBU Invitational, placing 10th in the three mile race in a time of 19:37.32. The 5k race was the first of Halm's career after competing in a 6k and 3.8k earlier this season.
"I'm very happy for Abby," Rice women's cross country head coach Jim Bevan said. "She's worked extremely hard and has showed improvement. She's a team leader and a good all-around Rice student-athlete."
The Owls as a team placed third out of four teams, which included Texas A&M, Houston Baptist and Prairie View. Rice is currently ranked seventh in the latest USTFCCCA South Central Regional Rankings.
