Roper Named C-USA Athlete of the Week

IRVING, Texas - Just four days after winning her first individual cross country collegiate race, Rice sophomore Cali Roper was named the Conference USA Female Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Roper, a native of Willis, Texas (Willis HS), dominated the field at the Rice Invitational, winning the individual (3,950m) race in 13:23. The victory was Roper's first of her career and her third, top-three performance in five races.
Roper also helped lead the Owls to a team title on Friday, beating the next closest opponent Stephen F. Austin by a margin of 27-62.
The Owls will next be in action on Sept. 27 when they head to Denton to take part in the Ken Garland Invitational.
