HOUSTON, Texas - Rice sophomore Cali Roper will become the 11th different individual runner in school history to compete at the NCAA Championships when she takes to the Lavern Gibson Cross Country Course this Saturday at 11 a.m. in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Roper, from Willis, Texas, advanced to the NCAA Championships thanks to a fifth place finish at the NCAA South Central Regional last week in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Roper, who was one of 38 individuals selected to participate in the championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process, set a Rice 6K record with a time of 20:14 at regionals on the heels of winning the Owls' first-ever individual title at the C-USA Championships.
The last Owl to run at the NCAA Cross Country Championships was the great Becky Wade in 2011.
Tickets are $10 and a live webcast of the championship will be broadcast on NCAA.com.
