The Rice baseball team rallied for eight runs in the second half of the 14-inning exhibition Saturday afternoon vs. longtime rival Lamar.
The Owl tandem of Leon Byrd and Ryan Chandler both had three hits and three RBI in the contest, and combined for six of the squad's 12 runs. Austin Orewiler was sharp in 2.2 innings of one-hit relief, and true freshman Ricardo Salinas came out of the bullpen to fire another 3.0 shutout frames.
