The Rice men's tennis team opens a two-match slate against programs ranked in the national top 10 when they host No. 5 Texas A&M at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. First serve in the doubles competition is set for 1:30.
The Owls rugged stretch of matches continues on Saturday, when they travel to Austin on Saturday to take on seventh-ranked Texas at 1 p.m.
The Aggies (17-4) moved up one spot in the Campbell's ITA national rankings this week, while the Owls (13-4) fell three spots to No. 37. They have won 12 of their last 13 matches and feature a lineup that includes three players ranked nationally in singles (Austin Krajicek 26; Jeff Dadamo 45, Alexis Klegoiu 87) in addition to all three of their doubles teams. Their top tandem of Krajicek and Dadamo are currently ranked fifth in the nation.
Sophomore Harry Fowler of Rice is currently ranked 97th in singles.
The Owls have won two of the last three matches between the two, including a 4-3 win in 2008 at Jake Hess.
