Owls Fall in SWC Shootout Semifinals

Southwest Conference Shootout Day 2 Results 
FORT WORTH - Rice University tennis players Jonathan Chang, Michael Nuesslein and Andy Wang all lost semifinal matches Saturday at the Southwest Conference Shootout. The Rice trio had one first-round matches in their respective draws on Friday and will now play for third place Sunday.
On Saturday, Chang lost to TCU's J.T. Sundling 1-6, 7-5, 6-3. Nusslein dropped a 7-5, 6-2 decision to Texas' Sudanwa Sitaram. Wang lost to Collin County's Kyle Rowe 6-3, 6-4.
Third-place matches set for Sunday will pit the Owls against three TCU players. Chang takes on Daniel Sanchez, Nusslein plays Max Stevens and Wang plays Will Stein.
After opening-round losses, Rice's Peter Frank and Philipp Seifert both advanced to the consolation finals with wins on Saturday.
In Flight A, Frank defeated Texas-Arlington's Yauheni Yaukeleu 6-1, 6-4 and will take on TCU's Orlando Superlano Sunday. Seifert posted a 6-1, 6-4 win over Texas-Arlington's Mindaugas Celedinas and will play Texas' Jacoby Lewis in the Flight B consolation final.
