Rice's Chris Boswell is one of three kickers who have been recognized by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission as the Lou Groza Award Stars of the Week. He was joined this week by FIU's Jack Griffin and USC's Andre Heidari.
Each week during the season, the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award sponsored by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission recognizes three of the top kickers each week from FBS division teams as the "Stars of the Week".

Boswell was recognized for his efforts in last Thursday's Bayou Bucket showdown with Houston. Boswell connected on a career-long, 51-yard field goal and added a 40-yarder along with four extra points. The two field goals gave Boswell a career-high 12 this season. His 12 field goals this season match the fifth best total in Rice history and moved him to within five of the school record of 17 set by James Hamrick in 1985. Boswell has also converted all 22 of his extra points this season and his 63 career PATs rank fifth in school history.
He will be back in action on Saturday when the Owls host UTEP for Homecoming, with kickoff set for 2:30 at Rice Stadium.
