Rice Has Three Advance in ITA Regional Consolations

ITA Regional Draws and Results
COLLEGE STATION - Rice University's Philipp Seifert, Peter Frank and Jonathan Chang advanced Saturday to the consolation draw quarterfinals at the ITA Regional Championship taking place at Texas A&M.
In the main draw on Saturday, Rice's Harry Fowler posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over SMU's Pablo Perez but fell in the tournament's quarterfinals to Texas A&M's Jackson Withrow 6-1, 6-4. Also in the main draw, Isamu Tachibana suffered a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Baylor's Lars Behlan, the tournament's No. 9 seed.
On Sunday, Seifert will play Texas-Arlington's David Subirats and Frank takes on Texas' Chris Camilone while Chang faces SMU's Arturs Kazijevs.
Seifert moved on by beating Baylor's Robert Verzaal 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 then knocking off Texas-Pan American's Ricardo Hopker 6-3, 6-1. Frank advanced by beating Texas A&M's Beau Blackshear 6-2, 6-1 and UTA's Nicholas Moreno 6-3, 6-3. Chang knocked off UTA's Jason Lateko 6-1, 6-1 before claiming a 6-2, 6-3 win against UTPA's Sebastian Job 6-2, 6-3.
Also in consolation play, Leif Berger dropped a 4-6, 7-6, 1-0 match to Lamar's Rob Lee.
In the main doubles draw, Michael Nusslein and Harry Fowler fell to Texas A&M team of Jeremy Efferding and Colin Hoover 8-6. Chang and Tachibana lost an 8-5 decision to Texas' Ben Chen and Daniel Whitehead.
