54th Rice Fall Invite Final Results
HOUSTON - Rice University's Peter Frank posted a 6-3, 7-5 victory over teammate Sam Garforth-Bles to capture the Flight A Singles championship and highlight the final the final day of the 2011 Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites Medical Center Rice Fall Invite on Sunday.
Frank was won of three Rice singles players to capture flight championships and the doubles team of Phillip Seifert and Leif Berger also won a Flight B Doubles.
Seifert also posted a 6-1, 7-5 victory over LSU's Chris Simpson to win the Flight B Singles championship. Siefert and Berger picked up a walkover victory in doubles after Michael Nusslein suffered an ankle injury in singles play on Saturday and was unable to play on Sunday.
Nusslein's doubles partner, Jonathan Chang won the Flight D Singles, beating Arkansas' Hall Fess 6-3, 6-7, 6-3.
In the back draw on Sunday, Isamu Tachibana posted a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Tulane's Coby Kramer-Golinkoff.
Earlier in the day, Garforth-Bles and Frank teamed for an 8-1 win in doubles play against Tulane's Iain Sneddon and Cedric Rutsaert.
The Owls travel next to the Texas Regional Championships, slated for Oct. 22-25 in College Station.
