Seifert Captures Title at HEB Baylor Invitational

WACO - Rice University freshman Philipp Jan Seifert posted a 7-6, 6-2 victory over unattached competitor Alex Grubbs in the semifinals then claimed the Men's Open Singles B title when Auburn's Lucas Lopasso was forced to withdraw from the finals due to injury at the HEB Baylor Invitational on Sunday.
The title ended a three-day weekend in which Seifert won five matches.
Lopasso had earned a spot in the finals by beating Texas A&M's Daniel Brown 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 Sunday morning.
The Owls now turn their attention to hosting a tournament at home when the Rice Fall Invite begins Friday on campus.
