
OU Gets By Rice, 4-3

HOUSTON - No. 21 Oklahoma grabbed the doubles point and picked up three, straight-set victories in singles play to beat No. 42 Rice 4-3 Sunday at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium.
Oklahoma is now 15-4. The loss left Rice with a split in matches against nationally-ranked opponents over the weekend as the Owls dropped to 11-10. On Friday the Owls defeated No. 31 Tulsa, 4-3.
In singles play on Sunday, Rice's Michael Nusslein came back from a 4-3 deficit in the third set to beat No. 54 Ionut Beleleu 6-0, 3-6, 6-4. Bruno Rosa, ranked No. 47 nationally, also picked up a win over a nationally-ranked ranked player from OU. Rosa defeated No. 23 Andrei Daescu 6-2, 6-2.
The Owls third win came at No. 5 where Christian Saravia defeated Lawrence Formentera 6-4, 6-4.
Rice concludes the regular season April 19 when the Owls travel to SMU. Rice will serve as the host of the Conference USA Championship April 22-25.
