Seifert Wins Consolation Final in Austin

Rice University freshman Philipp Seifert defeated Oklahoma's Tsvetan Mihov 7-5, 7-5 Sunday morning to win the A Draw consolation finals at the UT Men's Invitational played in Austin.
Seifert won three straight matches to capture the consolation title. He also benefited from a withdrawal by the tournament's No. 1 seeded player, Christian Blocker of Miami who also lost in the main draw. After Blocker withdrew, Seifert beat Florida's Billy Federhofer 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 on Saturday to advance to Sunday's consolation championship match.
The tournament in Austin wraps up the fall season for the Owls. Rice returns to action Jan. 15th when the squad plays host to Lamar and Prairie View A&M in a pair of duals.
