Seifert Earns C-USA Player of the Month

Rice freshman Philipp Seifert capped an outstanding first month of college tennis by being named the Conference USA Male Tennis Athlete of the Month, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Seifert opened his Rice career by earning a pair of individual titles in tournament play. He captured the B Flight singles crown at the HEB Baylor Men's Invitational, taking five matches in his trip to the top from Sept. 24-27. One week later, Seifert captured his second title, winning the C Flight singles title at the Rice Invitational. He defeated teammate Oscar Podlewski in the final, 6-0, 6-4, to earn his second title in as many weeks.
On the year, Seifert holds an impressive 8-0 mark in singles competition.
