
Fowler Moves on to USTA-ITA Regional Singles Quarterfinals

Rice sophomore Harry Fowler won in straight sets to reach the quarterfinals of the USTA-ITA Regional Championship at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station on Sunday, one of three Owls who will be back in action on Monday.
Fowler defeated Vitor Manzini of Texas Tech 7-6, 6-0, who had defeated Rice's Christian Saravia earlier in the day to advance against Fowler.
Sam Garforth-Bles and Jonathan Chang each advanced to the quarters of their consolation brackets, while Oscar Podlewski also advanced but then withdrew from his quarterfinal match due to illness. Garforth-Bles defeated Texas A&M's Daniel Brown 7-5, 6-1 to move into the quarters of the round two consolation. Podlewski defeated Jeff Bryan of Texas Tech 6-1, 6-0 to reach the round two quarters before withdrawing.
Chang moved into the quarters of the round one quarters by downing Robert Sajovich of SMU, 6-3, 6-4.
Michael Nuesslein fell in the round of 16 to Alexis Klegou of Texas A&M, 6-3, 6-2. Phillip Seifert fell to top-seeded Austin Krajicek of A&M 6-2, 6-2. Nuesslein and Saravia fell in doubles to the Aggies top-seeded duo Krajicek and Jeff Dadamo 8-4.
