Olson Named as Conference USA Athlete of the Week

Sept. 29, 2009 IRVING, Texas - Rice cross country athlete Heather Olson, from Grayslake, Ill. (Warren Township H.S.) has been selected as the Conference USA women's cross country athlete of the week for her performance at the Islander Splash held in Corpus Chrisiti,Texas.

Olson, a freshman, placed third in the 5K run with a time of 17:00.5 and was the first varsity athlete to cross the finish line. She led the Owls to a second-place finish in a field of 10 competing schools. This is Olson's first Athlete of the Week honor of her career.
