Bruno Rosa, who battled his way into the round of 16 at the NCAA Men's Tennis Singles Championship before losing to the eventual national champion, has earned a spot on the 2009 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-America Team.
This is the second consecutive year that Rosa has earned All America status. He is the first Rice player to earn back-to-back All America honors in singles since Mike Estep earned the honor in three consecutive years from 1969-71.
Rosa battled back from five match points to win his second round match and advance to the round of 16 at the NCAA Championships last week at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center on the campus of Texas A&M University. He was eliminated from the competition by Ole Miss freshman Devin Britton, who went on to capture the NCAA Singles title.
