
Schamun & Lam Named C-USA Players of the Week

Rice University volleyball player Meredith Schamun (Murrieta, Calif.) has been selected as the Conference USA Setter of the Week, while teammate Tracey Lam (San Francisco) was selected as Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Schamun averaged an 12.50 assists per set in Rice's two straight-set wins over East Carolina and Marshall. She averaged 12.7 assists vs. East Carolina and 12.33 against Marshall. Schamun led a balance attack as three players posted double-digit kills, she also had 11 digs to post a double-double herself, against the Thundering Herd. The junior also had four kills in each match and zero hitting errors for a .381 hitting percentage for the week. This is Schamun's third Setter of the Week honor this year and sixth of her career.
Lam averaged 6.67 digs per set in Rice's two straight-set wins over East Carolina and Marshall. She averaged seven digs per set against East Carolina and 6.33 digs per set vs. Marshall. This is Lam's second consecutive Defensive Player of the Week honor in 2009 and eighth for her career.
Lam shared the honor with UAB's Patty Paniagua.
The Owls (16-8, 8-5) play at Tulane on Friday (7 p.m.) and at UTEP on Sunday at 2 p.m.
