Owls to Square Off in Texas Invite Finals

AUSTIN - Rice University's Jonathan Chang and Christian Saravia will face off Sunday for the B Draw championship at the Texas Invitational on Sunday. Saravia will also team with Michael Nusslein and play for the doubles championship.
Chang got to Sunday's championship with a pair of three-set victories. He posted a 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 win over St. Edward's Ryan Wiggins. The freshman then knocked off Texas A&M's Jack Seider 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
On the other side of the B Draw bracket, Saravia won two matches in straight sets. He beat St. Edward's Brett Powers 6-4, 6-0 then defeated Laredo Community College's Antoine Raffaelli 6-4, 6-1 to reach the championionship.
Following Sunday morning's singles championships, Saravia will stay on the court and team with Nusslein to play for the doubles title. The Owls will take on the No. 1 doubles seeds, Dimitar Kutrovsky and Josh Zavala of host Texas in the championship.
Nusslein and Saravia will be looking for their third straight win against a Texas doubles team. They defeated the bracket's No. 2 seeds in quarterfinal play, beating Texas' Ed Corrie and Kellen Damico 8-4 then knocked off Alex Hilliard and Daniel Whitehead 8-6 to advance to the championship.
The singles championships are set for 8:30 a.m. with the doubles to follow at 10 a.m. Sunday.
