- Rice captains for the UCF game were Toren Dixon, Marcus Knox, Scott Solomon and Travis Bradshaw . UCF won the toss and chose to receive, Rice defended the north goal.
- With the loss, the Owls have started 0-8 for the first time since 2005.
- With his PAT, Clark Fangmeier moved past Shayne Graham of Virginia Tech (1996-99) and Jeff Chandler of Florida (1997-01) into sole possession of 20th on the NCAA career list. Derek Schmidt (1984-87) and Xavier Beitia, (2001--04) both of Florida St. are tied for 18th with 174. Fangmeier's conversion was his 100th consecutive. He has converted 168 of 169 coming into the day. He raised his career point total to 252 and needs nine to pass Trevor Cobb (260) and move into second on the Owls career scoring list.
- Travis Bradshaw led the Owls with 12 tackles, matching his career-best. It was the fifth, 12-tackle game of his career and his eighth double-digit tackle game in 14 career starts.
- Xavier Webb made his first career start for the Owls today, becoming the 21st Owl to start his first career game this season.
- Charles Ross' 54-yard run in the third quarter was the longest by an Owl this season and his career-long. It was the longest rush by an Owl since Chase Clement scored on a 61-yard run last season against Army, and the longest by an Rice running back since Justin Hill scored from 54 yards out at Southern Miss in 2007. Ross finished the day matching his career high with 63 yards (also had 63 vs. Vanderbilt).
- Tyler Smith's 19-yard run in the fourth quarter was a career-long for him, while Jeramy Goodson's 17-yard jaunt in the fourth was his career-best.
- With a reception in the first quarter, Toren Dixon continued his current active streak to 34 consecutive games with a catch. Dixon went on to catch six passes for 54 yards and tied Doug Cunningham (1975-78) for fifth on the Rice career receiving yardage list with 1,522.
