- Rice captains for the Navy game were Toren Dixon, Scott Solomon, Andrew Sendejo and Taylor Wardlow. Rice won the toss and elected to receive. Navy defended the north goal.
- The 35 points surrendered by the Owls in the first half were the most by Rice since Texas scored 41 in the first half in 2007. The 63 points on the day were the most surrendered by the Owls since they lost to UCLA in a 63-21 in 2005. They are the most points allowed by the Owls.
- With his two PATs, Clark Fangmeier moved past Nate Kaeding of Iowa for 22nd on the NCAA career list with 166 and needs one more to move into a tie with Shayne Graham of Virginia Tech (1996-99) and Jeff Chandler of Florida (1997-01) for 20th. The two points raised his career total to 244, 17 away from passing Trevor Cobb and move into second on the Rice career list).
- Andrew Sendejo was credited with 17 tackles on the day, his 11th career double-figure tackle game, and matching the second-best total of his career. Sendejo's career high for tackles in a game is 18 vs. Marshall in 2007 and he also had 17 at Texas in 2008. The last Owl with 19 tackles in a game was Jason Hebert in 1999 at Michigan. The last Owl to record 20 tackles was Larry Izzo, vs. Army in 1995.
- Sendejo raised his career total to (309 coming into the game). He moved into fourth place on the Rice career tackle chart (Joe Davis was seventh with 293 from 1992-95; Jason Hebert was sixth with 300 from 1998-01; Larry Izzo was fifth with 301 from 1992-95; Richard Gray was fourth with 306 from 1980-82). Danny Burgess is third with 310 from 1983-86.
- Shane Turner's 196 yards on kickoff returns are the second-best total in school history, second only to his school-record total of 200 yards at UAB to open the season. He moved into into third place on the Rice season kickoff return yardage with 742 yards. Turner entered the day with 546 yards passed Michael Perry (7th 596 in 1996), Trevor Cobb (6th with 598 in 1989) James Sykes (5th with 601 yards in 1973) and Perry (4th with 669 yards in 1998 and 680 yards in 1997). Quentis Roper is second with 795 yards in 1986. Ja'Corey Shepherd set the school record with 885 yards last year.
- With a reception in the second quarter, Toren Dixon continued his current active streak to 32 consecutive games with a catch. Dixon went on to catch three passes for 26 yards and moved past Ed Howard (1,344 yards from 1991-94) into seventh on the Rice career list with 1,354 yards. Melvin Robinson (1,409 from 1981-84) is sixth.
