Rice senior wide receiver Jarett Dillard and freshman safety Travis Bradshaw were named to a pair of post-season honors teams today by different media outlets.
Dillard was named to the Associated Press Football All America second team, while Bradshaw was named to the Sporting News second-team Freshman All America team.
He leads the nation with 19 touchdown receptions this season and is the first player in NCAA history to have a pair of seasons with at least 19 (his career high was 21 in 2006). He is sixth in receiving yards (1,224), sixth in yards per game (102.0), tied for eighth with an average of 9.5 points per game and tied for18th with 6.58 catches per game. He set an NCAA record with 59 career touchdown catches and became the 10th receiver in NCAA history to top 4,000 yards in receiving. He also holds the C-USA career mark with 4,052 and became the 13th receiver in NCAA history to record three seasons with at least 1,000 yards receiving.
This is the fifth All America team that has included Dillard this year. He has been first team selection by the Football Writers and CBSSports.com, a second-team selection by Walter Camp and AP, and a third-team honoree by Rivals.com.
Bradshaw, a former walk-on, was also an All C-USA Freshman team honoree after finishing second on the team with 81 tackles, despite not moving into the starting line up until the second half of the season. He made a total of five starts and was credited with at least 11 tackles in each game.
