
Waite Named to C-USA All-Academic First Team

Rice University cross country athlete Lennie Waite has been selected to the 2008 Conference USA All-Academic team. Also, Allison Pye was named to the C-USA All-Academic second team.
In her tenure at Rice, Waite has been a member of the women's soccer team, indoor and outdoor track and field teams and has been one of the Owls' top runners this season. The Austin, Texas, native earned All-C-USA first team and All-South Central first team honors as a psychology major with a 3.84 GPA. Waite placed fourth at the C-USA Championship and finished ninth at the NCAA South Central Regional.
Pye, from Houston, Texas, has a 3.99 cumulative GPA as a sophomore. She placed eighth in the NCAA South Central Region and she also finished fifth at the Conference USA championship to earn All-C-USA first team honors. At the NCAA Championship, Pye finished 65th.
The Owls, under head coach Jim Bevan, this past season earned their second-straight NCAA automatic bid with a second place finish at the NCAA South Central Region. Rice also placed second at the C-USA Championship.
