- This afternoon's contest against HOUSTON was the 32nd meeting in the series. The series began in 1971.
- Rice game captains for the HOUSTON game were QB Chase Clement, WR Jarett Dilllard, DL Chris Ptaszek and LB Brian Raines. Houston won the toss and elected to deferred.
- Rice (now 9-3) won nine games in a season for the first time since the Cotton Bowl champion team of 1953.
- Rice went 6-0 at home this season. The last time the Owls went undefeated at home was in 2001 (5-0).
- The last time the Owls went 6-0 at home was by the Cotton Bowl champion team of 1949.
- Rice eclipsed its scoring record for a season and now has racked up 499 points this year. The previous full season mark was 377 points set during 2007.
- Rice's 56 points was the most for the Owls in a Bayou Bucket game.
- Two of Rice's eight touchdown drives covered at least 75 yards. The Owls have notched 24 TD drives this season of 75 yards or more. Thirteen of those 24 drives have come in Rice's last four games.
- The Owls defeated Houston at home in Rice Stadium for the first time since 2000. The Rice victory in 2004 was at Reliant Stadium. The 2001 win was at Robertson Stadium.
- Clement owns the top spot for TD passes on the C-USA career list. He has thrown 96 career touchdown passes.
- QB Chase Clement is now responsible for 120 career touchdowns (96 pass, 24 rush) and moved into sole possession of first place on the C-USA list for career TDs. He surpassed Tulsa's Paul Smith (2005-07) for FIRST on the league's career list.
- Clement finished with 381 passing yards on 28-of-41 and five touchdowns. He has thrown for over 300 yards in six of his last seven games. The Owls improve to 8-4 when Clement throws for more than 300 yards.
- With 439 yards of total offense, Clement became the first Rice player and fifth player in C-USA history to surpass 11,100 career yards. The Alamo Heights product now has 11,147 yards and trails Tulsa's Paul Smith (11,304 from 2005-07) for fourth place on the C-USA list.
- Clement moved into seventh place on the C-USA career passing yards list. He now has 9,478 passing yards and is 409 yards away from eclipsing UAB's Darrell Hackney (9,886 yards) for sixth.
- Clement moved past Houston's David Klingler for 13th place on the NCAA career TD pass list.
- With his 58 rushing yards on 13 carries, Clement moved into 13th place on the school's all-time list for rushing with 1,669 yards. He is the first player in C-USA history to throw for more than 8,000 yards and rush for more than 1,600 yards.
- WR Jarett Dillard has caught at least two passes in all 48 career appearances. He hauled in four receptions from Clement for 43 yards. It was only the secondgame this year he has NOT caught a touchodown pass. Dillard remains one score away from tying Memphis' DeAngelo Williams (2002-05) for the overall C- USA touchdown record (60).
- Dillard now has 4,052 receiving yards on 284 catches. He moved into ninth place on the NCAA career list for receiving yards. He is also 16 catches away from equalling Louisville's Arnold Jackson (1997-2000) for the top spot at 300.
- WR James Casey grabbed 12 receptions in the game to give him 104 for the for the year, breaking the single-season C-USA record set by Arnold Jackson in 1999.
- Casey had his sixth 100-yard receiving day.
- Casey became the second player in Rice history to catch at least 10 TD passes in a season.
- Casey has recorded at least five receptions in 18-straight games dating back to the Houston game last season.
- Casey now has 150 career receptions and is just two catches shy of equaling David Houser (1974, 76-78) for third place on the Rice list.
- PK Clark Fangmeier added eight PATs to give him 149 for his career. He moved into second on the C-USA list.
- Fangmeier extended his Rice season PAT total to 68.
- LB Brian Raines corralled the first interception of his career.
- DB Andrew Sendejo led all players with 13 tackles (seven solo) and recovered one fumble.
- P Kyle Martens punted five times. He notched one 50-yard punt and one for 49. Martens hung his 12th punt of the season inside the 20-yard line.
- WR Toren Dixon has caught a pass in 24 consecutive games. He finished with six receptions for 57 yards.
- Dating back to the Houston game last season, the Rice offense has had at least one player record a 100-yard receiving game in 13 of its last 16 games.
- DB Travis Bradshaw made 12 tackles, forced a fumble and broke up one pass. He racked up 12 tackles against Southern Miss, Tulane and Army earlier this season and had 11 last week vs. Marshall.
