Owls Open 2007 With Rice Alumnae Challenge

HOUSTON -- The Rice women's cross country team began the 2007 season on Friday with the Rice Alumnae Challenge at Hermann Park where the current parliament of Owls edged the group of former letterwinners by a point in the final team standings.
Alex Gajewski (1992-95) won the individual race, edging fellow alumna Allison Cox (1998-2001) by two seconds. Jessica Cox led a 3-4-5-7-8 finish by the current team members as the Owls scored 27 points. Lennie Waite came in fourth while Claire Shorall was fifth. Also scoring for the current Owls were Laura Hudson (seventh) and Vicki Walker (eighth).
The cross country season continues on Sept. 15 when the Owls host the 33rd Annual Rice Invitational on the Rice campus.
