Rice's Clark Fangmeier, who kicked the winning field goal as time expired at SMU on Saturday, has been honored by Conference USA and its Special Teams Player of the Week.
This is the second time Fangmeier has earned the honor, He was cited last year as a freshman after he defeated East Carolina with a 40-yard field goal as time ran out.
Fangmeier's winning kick came on a day that started when he saw his streak of consecutive extra points without a miss to start his career end at 68. The streak was the longest by an Owl to start his career and ranked as the eighth longest active streak. Fangmeier did convert his other four attempts on the day, setting a Rice single-season mark with 37 successful conversions.
