The Owls' only senior in 2006, Tessa Kuykendall ranks third all-time at Rice in block assists and total blocks, and fourth in solo blocks. In 2005 she received AVCA all-region honors after earning all-conference honors in both 2004 and 2005. Additionally, she was a 2005 CoSIDA academic all-district team memeber. Kuykendall has started and played in every match for Rice since the start of her sophomore season. She hails from Brighton, Mich., where she played for Mercy High School and Motorcity Volleyball Club. At Rice she is a bioengineering major from Lovett College.

The best thing about being a Rice Owl is... The tight knit community of athletes and staff. The small ratio of teacher to students and our beautiful campus. The elite level that so many of our teams play at.

My teammates would describe me as... Large and in charge. Smart but a little scatty.

The person I admire most is... My coach, Genny for her immeasurable commitment and energy to the volleyball program. The intensity that she sustains in her work is awe worthy.
The concert I would most like to go to is... Madonna for her ability to consistently shock audiences.
Not many people know that I... Love boardgames!!
My favorite subject in high school was... Interior Design
The best place I have visited as a tourist is... The beautiful city of Paris, France.
If I didn't play volleyball I would be a... Basketball player, rower or on the water polo team!
The best book I have ever read is... The Clan of the Cave Bear
The teammate I would most want to be stranded on a deserted island with is... Rachel Lopez because she would be pretty handy with all of her setting experience. She is good with her hands, quick thinker and a take-charge kind of gal.
The car I would most like to own is... Bentley Azure
