Lee Advances To Finals At Baylor Fall Invitational

HOUSTON -- Tiffany Lee defeated teammate Alanna Rodgers to advance to the Green Flight finals and lead the Owls on the second day of the Baylor Fall Invitational on Saturday in Waco.
Before their semifinal showdown, both Lee and Rodgers recorded straight-set wins in the quarterfinals. Lee downed Louisville's Bianca Gorbea 6-3, 6-3, while Rodgers held on for a 6-4, 7-6 (0) victory against Tulsa's Agostina Santoro, the No. 2 seed in the draw. In their semifinal bout, Lee, a junior and seeded third in the draw, defeated the sophomore Rodgers 6-4, 6-4. Lee now faces Conference USA foe and No. 4 seed Claire Rietsch in Sunday's championship match.
Another all-Rice final is slated for the Green Flight consolation draw. Kimberley Patenaude and Rebecca Lin both scored victories for the Owls in the back draw. Lin beat Sam Houston State's Brooke Mills 6-4, 7-6 (10) then Texas Tech's Anne Sophie Frank 6-1, 6-0. Patenaude advanced to the semifinals on a default and held off a determined Pamela Martinez of Lamar 6-3, 6-7, 1-0 (4).
In doubles action, Patenaude and Lee scored another victory for the Owls in the quarterfinals of the Green Flight main draw. The Rice pair defeated Louisville's Natalie Laszkowski and Bianca Gorbea 8-5. Lee and Patenaude next face the top-seeded duo of Kate Purice and Christi Baxley of Oklahoma in Sunday's semifinal action.
The tournament concludes on Sunday with the singles finals and the doubles semifinals and finals.
