Daniels Named C-USA Athlete of the Week

Rice junior Marissa Daniels of Pearland, Texas, was named Conference USA's cross country athlete of the week for the week ending Sept. 10, the league office announced Tuesday. Daniels, a two-time NCAA national qualifier in cross country, won the Rice Invitational Saturday by nine seconds, covering the rain-soaked 4,085-meter course in 14:06. The Owls won the team title in their season-opener with 34 points.
Daniels was twice named C-USA athlete of the week for cross country in 2005.
