HOUSTON -- A day after earning all-conference honors, Rice senior Tessa Kuykendall was named to the Conference USA all-academic team where she was joined by teammate Rachel Lopez, a junior, the C-USA office announced Thursday.
Kuykendall is a bioengineering major with a 3.33 grade point average. During her career, she earned CoSIDA academic all-district honors in 2005 and was named to the 2005-06 C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. While Rice was a member of the Western Athletic Conference, Kuykendall was named academic all-WAC for the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
The Owls' all-time leading blocker, Kuykendall was one of only three C-USA players to earn spots on both the all-conference and all-academic teams.
