The Rice baseball program held its final workout of the fall season Sunday and head coach Wayne Graham pleased with what he saw.
"It was a good display, today and all fall," Graham said. "(Junior catcher) Danny Lehmann had great fall. He hit over .450 and distinguished himself. (Sophomore infielder) Aaron Luna had five home runs, and the one today was with the wind was blowing in. (Junior outfielders) Jordan Dodson and Tyler Henley both swung a good bat and that was good to see. I think we hit better in this fall training period than we have in a long time.
"The freshman pitchers had an outstanding fall," Graham added. "Two right-handers, Ryan Berry, Jared Gayhart, really had a good fall. The defense was good, and that made for good baseball. We'll be ready to start up again and get going in the spring."
Last season the Owls compiled a 57-13 record and reached the semifinals of the College World Series in Omaha. The 2007 season beings on Feb. 3 at home against Central Missouri State. Season tickets to Rice athletics are available through the Ticket Office or may be purchased on-line.
