Owls End Stay at ITA Regionals

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The Rice women's tennis team lost in singles to close out the Owls stay in Fort Worth at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Southwest Regional Championships.
Freshman Julie Chao highlighted the day for the Owls, advancing to the semifinals of her consolation draw where she was edged by Texas A&M's Nicki Mechem 7-5, 4-6, 15-13.
Junior Tiffany Lee and freshman Rebecca Lin also competed on Sunday, losing in straight-sets in their consolation draw.
Next up for the Owls is the Harvard Invitational in Boston, Mass., Nov. 3-5. The tournament will mark the end of fall competition for Rice before the start of dual play in January.
