Pablo Solares set a C-USA meet record in the 1500-meters

Senior Pablo Solares (Richardson, Texas) was named Conference USA men's cross country athlete of the week after his second-place finish Saturday at the Arizona State Invitational, the league office announced Tuesday.

Solares clocked 24:40 over the eight-kilometer course to finish as runner-up behind Arizona's 2005 Pac-10 champion and NCAA 10th-placer, Robert Cheseret, who won in 24:24. The Owls finished as the second collegiate team, behind Arizona, beating Arizona State and Northern Arizona in the 11-team field.
