DiSesa, Egic Advance to Championship Matches at SDSU Classic

SAN DIEGO - Seniors Blair DiSesa and Madeja Egic both advanced to the championship matches of their respective singles flights to lead Rice at the San Diego State Fall Tennis Classic on Saturday at San Diego.

In Red singles action, DiSesa won a tough battle against Georgia Tech's Allison Silverio with a 7-5, 7-6 (7) decision. She faces Katy Williams of Long Beach State in Sunday's finals. Egic rallied from a set back in her Gold singles semifinal for a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 victory over Fresno State's Lisa Nystrom-Skola. The Owl takes on the Yellow Jackets' Kacie Anson on Sunday.

Newcomer Tiffany Lee was also a winner for Rice on Saturday, beating the Beach's Emmanual Tabatruong 6-0, 6-1 and advancing to the Black singles consolation finals. Freshman Emily Braid scored a win in the Gold singles back draw, rallying to defeat Elisa Bonner of New Mexico 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
