Houston - Running back Mike Falco may be available for duty for the first time this season when Rice hosts UTEP in a Conference USA game Saturday in historic Rice Stadium.
Falco, a junior from Scottsdale, Ariz. (Horizon HS), has missed the first six games of the season after a preseason knee injury. He practiced for the first time this week.
"That could be a real plus," said coach Ken Hatfield. "We'll take it day-by-day and see what he can do."
Falco had one of his better games against the Miners in the double-overtime loss last year in El Paso. He rushed for 39 yards on seven carries, and caught three passes for 66 yards, including a 17-yard TD pass from Joel Armstrong.
Game time Saturday in the Stadium is 5 pm (CDT).
