Houston - Rice should have two key players available again when the Owls open their home season Saturday against Tulsa in Rice Stadium.
Center David Perkins and running back Marcus Rucker, who both missed last week's game at East Carolina due to injuries suffered in practice last week, were both on the practice field Tuesday afternoon. Perkins had an ankle injury and Rucker was out with a shoulder ailment. Neither made the trip to North Carolina.
"With no open dates the rest of the season, it will always be week-to-week with injuries," said coach Ken Hatfield. "New people may have to step up and play when that happens, and that's where depth and experience come in."
Saturday's game will not be televised in the Houston area, and the radio broadcast has changed to KTRU (91.7 FM) in Houston due to the Houston Astros' National League championship series with St. Louis.
