HOUSTON -- Rice coach Ken Hatfield welcomed at least one familar face back at Tuesday's practice on the grass fields as the Owls continued preparations for Saturday's game at San Jose State.
Interior defensive lineman Lance Redmon was back at full speed Tuesday. The progress of the sophomore from Katy has been slowed by recurring injuries, but Hatfield said that his return was a good sign.
"We've been trying to find some defensive linemen who can play, with all the injuries we've had," he said. "Lance seemed to be practicing really good. He's been hurt a while, but he seems to be back."
The Owls lost noseguard B.J. Forguson and end Jarrett Erwin during last week's loss at Oklahoma, and their status for the rest of the season is still to be determined.
