Cross Country: Reigning WAC Champions Start Seasons at Rice Relay

The Rice University men's and women's cross country teams will start the defense of their Western Athletic Conference Championships, as well as the 2000 season, when the Owls host the Rice Relays, Friday night at the Buffalo Bayou.

Men's and women's squads will be represented by the entire eight-team field that includes Baylor, Houston, Lamar, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin State, Texas A&M and Texas Southern.

Both races are slated to start at 7 pm with the relay teams consisting of two runners. On the men's side, each harrier will run two separate legs of two miles, for a total of eight miles, while each of the women's runners will travel one a half miles twice, totaling six miles.
