Cross Country: Roberson Named WAC Athlete of the Week

DENVER Rice senior Shaquandra Roberson was named the Western Athletic Conference's women's cross country athlete of the week on Tuesday.

Roberson took top individual honors at the Rice Invitational last Saturday, completing the 3,065-meter course in a time of 10 minutes, 18 seconds. She guided the Rice women to their eighth consecutive championship at the event, held on the Rice campus.

Rice took first, third, fourth, sixth and seventh to score 21 points and finish ahead of second-place Stephen F. Austin, which scored 49 points.

Next up for the Owls is the North Texas Invitational Oct. 1 in Denton.
