Volleyball: Rice Notches WAC Win Over UTEP

Klara Zelinka led the Owls, hitting .485 with 20 kills and only four errors. Zelinka added 14 digs and five blocks to the Rice defensive attack. Kelly Smith was the Owls' kill leader with 22, and Leigh Leman posted 19 digs. Briana Cook hit .357 and knocked down eight blocks.
For the Miners, Stacy Zimmerman notched 18 kills, and Eryn Polhamus was error-free with eight kills on 16 attacks for a .500 hitting percentage on the night. Polhamus launched seven blocks and six Miners recorded double-digit digs.
The Owls improve to 11-17 on the year and 2-7 in league play, while the Miners drop to 5-19 on the season and 3-8 in the WAC.
Rice's next match will be Tuesday at Nacogdoches where it will take on Stephen F. Austin at 7 pm.
