Homecoming Nonfire Set for Friday at 6 pm

Rice will host a homecoming "nonfire" instead of the annual homecoming bonfire Friday at 6 pm in the Ray Courtyard.

It is a non-fire this year because of the Harris County did not grant Rice a permit for outdoor burning because of the drought situation.

The bonfire will now be a free reception from 6-7:30 pm on Friday at the Ray Courtyard behind the Ley Student Center on the Rice campus. Free pizza, soft drinks and T-shirts will be given out at the event. Owl coaches, senior football players, cheerleaders and the Marching Owl Band will take part in a pep rally at 7 pm.

The Ray Courtyard is located behind the Rice Memorial Center, framed by the Chapel, Student Activities Cloistures, and the Grand Hall.
