Rice will be going for its seventh straight win at Rice Stadium when it hosts Texas-El Paso Saturday at 2 pm. In addition, the Owls will be after their 10th consecutive home win in Western Athletic Conference play.
"We've been on the road seven out of 10 weeks, and we love being in our own stadium," coach Ken Hatfield said following Wednesday's workout. "It was the last pads workout for the seniors, and the last game in the Stadium for the seniors."
Much of Wednesday's workout was devoted to fine-tuning the Owls' defense for UTEP's strong offense. "(UTEP coach) Charlie (Bailey) told me before the season that he'd have his best offense ever this year," said Hatfield. "I think he's right: they scored 42 points on SMU and we could manage only two."
Saturday's Rice Homecoming game will start at 2 pm (CST).
