Owls Fall to No. 2 Hawaii

The Owls were led by the play of Kelly Smith who posted her eighth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 11 digs. Klara Zelinka added nine kills and Courtney Smith knocked down six kills and three blocks. Soleil Thon put up 17 assists and eight digs. The Owls held the top blocker in the country, Hawaii's Heather Bown, to 1.66 per game, below her average of 2.27.
The Wahine were led by Lily Kahumoku and Bown who notched 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Jennifer Carey launched 40 assists, and Veronica Lima and Bown each had 5 blocks. Overall, the Wahine hit .318 and had for players hit over .300.
Hawaii improves its record to 15-0 on the season and 4-0 in the WAC. The Owls drop to 8-12 and 0-3 in conference action.
The Owls will travel this weekend to face two WAC opponents. They will meet Fresno State in Fresno, Calif., Friday night, and will take on San Jose State in San Jose, Calif., on Saturday night.
