Volleyball: Owls Fall to Miners

Kelly Smith led the Owl attack, putting down 17 kills and 21 digs. Alison Broadfoot had a career best performance, topping personal best marks with 15 kills on 40 attacks. Elizabeth Davenport Pollock hit .583, posting career highs with eight kills and seven blocks. Soleil Thon added 11 digs and 43 assists.
For UTEP, Catherine Porter launched 24 kills, 17 digs and four service aces. Stacy Zimmerman added 11 kills and 14 digs. Krista Gronert set up 59 assists and 10 digs. Overall, The Miners had four players with double-digit digs and three with 10 or more kills.
The Owls fall to 8-11 on the season and 0-2 in the WAC, while the Miners climb to 4-11 and 2-1 in the conference.
The Owls will return to Autry Court Saturday at 7 pm to face No. 2 Hawaii.
