Cross Country: Men Second, Women Third at Chile Pepper

The Owls' men's team was led by junior Lachlan McArthur, last week's Western Athletic Conference athlete of the week, who finished 10th the 10K run with a time of 30:40. Rice scored 100 points, 75 points behind top-ranked Arkasas, which scored 25 points. The Razorbacks finished second, third, fifth, seventh and eighth. Rice junior Tyson Hendricksen was 10th in the race in a time of 30:54.
South Alabama's David Kimani won the men's race in a time of 29:24. South Alabama finished fifth in the team results.
The Rice women finished third behind second-ranked Arkansas (20 points) and fifth-ranked Wisconsin (51 points). Senior Shaquandra Roberson finished finished 11th in the race, completing the 5K course in a time of 18:03. Sophomore Katie Waite finished 24th overall after crossing the finish line in a time of 18:36 as the Owls scored 155 points. The five Arkansas runners finished first, second, third, fifth and ninth.
Arkansas' Amy Yoder won the women's division in a time of 17:01.
This was the Owls' final tuneup for both Rice teams before heading to Fresno, Calif. Oct. 30 for the WAC Championships.
