Women's Cross Country: Robinson Leads Owls at UNT Invite

DENTON, Texas The Rice women's cross country team finish second with 40
points Friday at the University of North Texas Invitational at the Eagle

The Owls were led by junior Shaquandra Robinson who finished second in the field with a time of 17:41.56 on the 5,000 meter course. Also finishing in the top 10 for Rice was Katie Waite (18:23.58), Liza Ruckman (18:33.47) and Tanya Wright (18:39.71) who placed eighth, ninth and 10th, respectively. Overall, the Owls had seven runners finish in the top 20.
Texas captured first place with 32 points. The Longhorns were led by Maureen Sweeney who finished ahead of all runners, completing the course in 17:38.70. TCU came in third in the team standings with 61 points.
The women's cross country team will compete next Friday at the Texas A&M Invitational at College Station.
