Haven Cox came to Rice in June of 2024 as the Director of Facilities and Events. He joined the Owls from Texas A&M University-Commerce where he was the Director of Facilities and Events from 2023 to 2024.
Cox plans sporting events and manages the day-to-day operations of the athletic department's facilities. In addition to serving as the primary event manager for football and the secondary manager for various sports facilities and teams, he oversees operations at Rice Stadium, Waltrip Indoor Training Center, and Brian Patterson Sports Performance Center, including facility operations, team scheduling, outside events, and rentals, Cox also communicates with staff members on game day, including event staff, RUPD, REMS, emergency management, environmental health and safety, and visiting teams.
While at A&M-Commerce he oversaw $250,000 in renovations, and planned game day operations, which increased revenue and attendance for home sporting events.
Cox served as Director of Facilities and Gameday Operations at Southern University in Baton Rouge from August 2021 to March 2023. During that time, he managed $2.5 million in renovations and capital projects, boosted attendance by 35% of the student body, and established the Jaguar Athletic Internship program.
He graduated from Mississippi State University with a B.S. in 2020 and an M.S. in 2021, respectively, in sport administration.
Lives in Houston with his wife, Bailie Dees Cox.
