Entering her third season with the women’s basketball team, Amy Mikahiel joined the Rice University Sports Medicine Department in July 2023.
Amy is a Houston native and a graduate of Texas A&M University, where she earned a degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology. While at Texas A&M, she had the opportunity to work with football, men’s and women’s basketball, track and field, swim and dive and volleyball. She then received her Masters in Athletic Training from the University of Houston where she worked football and track and field. Amy also has clinical experience from Rice University as a graduate student where she worked basketball, track and field and football. She also had the opportunity to provide medical coverage for the 2023 Men’s NCAA Final Four Tournament.
Her professional interests include lower extremity injuries, injury prevention and recovery. Amy is currently a member of NATA, SWATA, GHATS and TSATA. She also serves as a UH MAT Preceptor and is SFDN1 certified. Amy is enrolled in Temple’s Doctorate of Athletic Training Program and is expected to graduate in 2026.
Education: Texas A&M University- BS in Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology. University of Houston- Masters in Athletic Training.
