Connor Gorny is in his first year as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach and Football Sport Science Coordinator after joining the staff in March 2023.
Gorny, 29, came to Rice from the University of Colorado where he worked with the football team as an Assistant Sports Performance Coach and Sport Science Coordinator.
Prior to Colorado, Gorny served as Head of Academy Performance and First Team Sport Scientist for Real Salt Lake of the MLS. He was assistant director of strength and conditioning for football at Utah State University, from January 2019 through December 2020. During his time at Utah State, he worked closely with the quarterbacks, including Jordan Love, a first-round pick (26th overall) by the Green Bay 2020 NFL Draft. He had previously been a sport science/strength and conditioning intern at the University of Utah in the summer of 2018.
A 2016 graduate from Ball State with a degree in Exercise Science, Gorny earned his Master’s degree in Applied Exercise Physiology from Columbia University in 2019. While earning his advanced degree, he was a graduate assistant in applied physiology, a strength and conditioning intern at the University, and a strength and conditioning volunteer at St. Francis College (Brooklyn, N.Y.)
